[meme] kudos

Two memes in a row? You betcha.

Given that it is now mid-year and that many of us seem to have been having a rough time of it lately, now seems like an excellent time for a kudos meme. Tag in character, as yourself, or even anonymously if you prefer! Just spread the love, y'all. ♥

Tag in each of your characters, then go around and respond to the others with kudos for their characters. Tell them why you love having them in game, what you enjoy about the character, praise a specific plot or thread, whatever love you have to spread. (If you'd rather just do a block comment of kudos, that's okay, too!) Share your favorite moments, tags, threads, plots, etc.

As with the nature of this meme, there is no time limit so don't feel rushed or like you 'missed it'! Tag in tonight, tomorrow, or next week and leave praise and love as you please. Just try to check back for new tag ins, tag around, and enjoy!

Frenemies for life though.

I really do have this soft spot for Kav, I love his voice and how you write him and how he interacts with other characters. Occasionally I want to fight the other Raven Boys BECAUSE THEY ARE SO MEAN TO HIM. And I know they have totally valid reasons for that.

But Kav <3 trash baby I love you.

This precious pie-maker. I need him forever. I love, LOVE his threads with Thomas Sharpe and with Bull and with literally any other character I can throw at him. You play him so well and so consistently? Like I can read a post and know it's Bitty without looking because OF COURSE.

You're making me want to read is comic.

Send help.

Porthos! This one is almost hard to articulate because I just have so many smooshy feelings about him. Back when I first joined and wasn't super active in the RPG yet, Porthos just totally captured me (and then all of the Musketeers captured me and I became a total thread-lurking OT3 junkie).

I love that he's so layered. Some of this is canon, right, because the show does a good job not making him into the comedy relief that some versions do, but I think you take that to the nth power. He has so much going on, and the darker parts are very linked to the loving, silly or family oriented parts and don't seem like different people, and I'm excited to see where things go from here.

Definitely need more threads with this dude. It'd be interesting to see him and R together now that R's attempting something like sobriety.

I've never threaded with Alec, and it's entirely possible that mine just run in different circles, but he's one of those characters I really enjoy just being around in the same world and always want to read more. I think you do a great job of getting across his personality in little ways, and the way he's changing and growing, and it's cool to watch.

Also I mean, Alec and Magnus. Who wouldn't want to read it.

I have to admit that I don't spot Dutch's threads nearly as often as I'd like, but MAN that flirty fighting thread with R made me fall in love with her. Damn. I love the way you write her voice.

I do not tag Dutch nearly enough with Solo (which I am going to change tonight when I tag her at the beach) but she's such a wonderful character. She has so many layers but she still comes across as a genuine person. It would be easy to make her a "touch but caring" cliché but you go so far beyond that to round her out and make her a real person and I absolutely love it.

Okay so.

It started with Jack Vincent. All I did was beta his app, and I thought he sounded like a super interesting character and I hoped Poison would get in because hey, artist buddies.

I thought that's all it would be. Artist buddies.

Then we threaded them together and Oh. My. God. Jack hit Poison like a heart attack, and I tried to resist, I did. Too young, too pure. But Poison and I were head over heels before we knew it and I'm so glad we never looked back. Not only do I have this amazing ship, I made such a lovely new friend and I cannot even put into words how wonderful you are, how glad I am to have you in my life. And then you helped me get to know other people (lookin at you Tony) and now I don't feel so alone in this game.

Before I met you, I felt really lonely in Darrow.

Don't even get me on Girl. When you talked about apping her I wasn't sure you'd want to follow through and then you got super excited about it, and then you APPED HER. AND NOW I HAVE POISON'S PRECIOUS DAUGHTER HERE IN DARROW. I love threading them together, so much. I love their relationship and how it's growing and changing as they get to know each other again.

I adore Adaline, I really do. And I'm so happy that I could bring Ellis to her, and that you LIKE my Ellis. I cannot wait to see what they do together in Darrow. Pretty sure they could become the mayoral couple, I'm just saying.

Ugh. I love you.

Alec and Billy's friendship is one of my favorite in the game, largely due to how well you play him. I love all the ways you've used the setting of Darrow to really grow Alec while keeping him true to character. Having to deal with not being around his support structure and then having them gradually filter in to Darrow has been cool to watch. He doesn't talk very much but you give us such a fantastic look at his mind and thought process in his tags that how little he often says doesn't detract from letting us fall in love with the character.

Trissss. She will always be a little bit #lifegoals/#wifegoals? for Blue, I think, but more than anything I really enjoy watching them learning how to be friends, being tough and not-so-tough together and I always want to have more.

But I really just enjoy reading Tris, because it's so evident that you both love and get the character. She's not just one thing or another, not just badass, or just someone putting up a tough front: reading her threads, you get across a very layered character with very little expository narration, which is tough as hell and I admire a lot.

I haven't tagged with her yet (and I will fix that first chance!) but I've been stalking all of her interactions and you play her perfectly. She's such an iconic character now with a lot of depth that you really have nailed down. I'm really excited about seeing what you do with her in Darrow!

Your Adam is perfect. I just...yeah. Always floored.

I keep saying to everyone, but I am super lucky to have the canonmates I do, because my Blue is legitimately better and more BLUE around all of her boys, and that's because I'm not doing any damn work to put her in her world.

And the weird tentative rebuilding between Adam and Blue that builds family but doesn't dismiss their past or feelings has been so amazing. I feel like in some way we psychically foretold that scene in the car in TRK; that Adam throughout the book felt so much like how you would have written them, and that - that is awesome.

I have totally sucked at keeping up the friendship between Porthos and Solo but I really love reading his threads. I absolutely love the show and you play him so perfectly even in a setting that has forced him out of what largely defines him in canon. Seeing him expand his circle of friends in Darrow and watch how much he cares about people is an absolute delight. Watching him interact with his cast mates is the absolute best though and I always look forward to stalking those threads.

BIFFY. I love him. I have loved him to pieces since, basically, I joined the RPG and that is all down to his very very individual voice. And now he's become a very important person to Blue without trying too hard. She trusts him, and she cares about him a lot, and she really enjoys driving him crazy with terrible fashion and things like iced tea. Someday we need to thread her being a dumbass and reading/otherwise keeping him company when he's cooped up for the full moon.

Basically more Biffy, gimme, always.

I need to catch up on his canon because now I'm all excited about it. I had no idea I'd ever end up reading anything like this series and it DELIGHTS me. You bastard.

Biffy tho <3

Whether it's Thomas, Amalthea, or now Iron Bull, I friggen love threading with Biffy. His character is so intriguing and he's so... present? I don't know anything about his canon but Biffy is BIFFY and you write him so well. I'm so glad Thomas S made friends with him, and Biffy and Amalthea have been absolutely precious.

I hope he's okay with a little unicorn shadowing him.

It's also been SUPER AWESOME getting to know you better between all our character interaction ^^

I love Aggie?? I'd actually love to thread her with Amalthea.

But we also need to super thread her and the Iron Bull. For reasons.

I literally know nothing about Poldark, but your Ross and Leah's Demelza make me want to get into it. They're precious, without being nauseating, and they're both fierce and individual. He has a lot of personality, even in a tag i'm seeing by accident, and just. Yes good.

PORTHOOOOOS!

I friggen love this guy. I love that he was one of the first people to befriend Gannicus, I still imagine them as regular drinking friends. I cannot WAIT to do even more threading between him and the Bull. I see headbutts in their future.

Your characterization of him is lovely, he's wonderfully complex and fun and just.

Porthos <3

So, I love Blue <3 I love her fabulous feminist friendship with Poison. I love that she might try to headbutt the Bull on Krem's behalf. I love how clearly her voice comes across no matter what situation she's in, I think you're absolutely killing it with her.

I want all of the threads. Forever.

I never really got into his canon but I absolutely love Lito in Darrow. The intensity with which he focuses on perfecting his craft is awesome and I love how you use that to drive him. I'm excited for him and Jesse to be working on their show together. Having him deal with being outted against his will was so, so heartbreaking but was great personal development. I can't wait to see what you do next with him.

I love Poe and Galen's wary acquaintanceship. He absolutely deserves to have more of his story told so I'm so glad you're doing that in Darrow. He has such limited screen time but you use it and the expanded universe stuff to really flesh him out as a character. Even with the Resistance and flying being taken away from him you make him still feel like Poe.

Oh, you know I love yours. <3 I have to admit that right now I'm doing the most reading of The Girl and Jack because the whole circle they inhabit is delightful, and they're delightful. But your Kaz is great, I love the conversation Blue and Newt are having...

Your characters are just always super vibrant, even when they're NOT doing something big: they're personalities that you can't forget about and don't want to.

I just. Ugh. I adore Edgar, which should be entirely obvious. And biased, I'm sure, but I don't think my trashbaby would be half as in love with your trashbaby if he wasn't so compellingly written. He's awkward and sort of -new- and impulsive and intense and he's also really vulnerable and needs someone to take care of him and be taken care of and you pull that all together in one human brilliantly. For a side character that's briefly charming and briefly tragic in a larger movie you've done an absolutely incredible job bringing Edgar to life in a way that I think "oh yes, that's totally canonical."

Except it's SUPERcanonical, sort of. It's more than canonical. It's not just a good transcript, it's an evolution and he's just endearing and beautiful.

Every time I get a notif from Edgar I perk up, and the tag has never let me down. I'm excited to see where our boys go. I love them figuring their shit out together and that the relationship doesn't feel like keeping score or hitting goals.

[As a side note you are probably one of the most fun and safe-feeling tag partner wrt the smuttier side of things that I've ever played with. So. Uh. Congratulations?? But no really, it's important to me to tell you that! Which shouldn't surprise me because your tags are always great.]

I love your Tony Stark so much! You capture the essence of his character perfectly; he is such a delight to read! I can hear his voice in my head whenever I do; it's wonderful. You have such a fantastic grasp of all of his complexities as a hero and a human being. It's been an utter delight to be able to thread Lois off of him with their dynamic. I love playing with you, and Tony is one of my favorites of yours.

I'm just going to imagine Curtis and Grantaire awkwardly eyeing each other across Neil and Edgar's kitchen.

(I actually think that they could be really good friends, especially considering the politics of Grantaire's friends and of people he admires.)

Your Curtis doesn't shy away from the darker side of him, but he's also not just that, and I always enjoy reading him.

I have never played these games and I love Dorian so much. And it is because of you that I do. He is such a wonderful character. He's magical, complex, and human - the best combination. I love threading with him and I love his friendship with Marius. We should definitely thread them again soon! Basically, your Dorian is perfect, and I love him and Biffy together.
