Something I'm trying very hard to understand. You started my training when I emerged from the Emperor's last command to me, we've worked together, and yeah, we've butted heads a time or two.

Yes. I was his Hand. An extension of his will across the galaxy.

It feels strange telling you this all over again.

No, I'm not. Not yet, and I don't know if I ever will be. Something that bothers you, I know.

Yes. You weren't happy when I left your academy, and that I never went back.

I may not know what or how you know a version of me, but that would have worked to your advantage in my experience.

A version of you? That makes as much sense as anything else today.

And, apparently, the version I knew wasn't all that different, even if he was younger.

The last time I talked to him, he appears to on track to correct his path.

How did you fail?

Let me guess, you feel responsible for that.

Shouldn't I be? It was my task to guide him, to teach him, be his mentor as Yoda and Obi-Wan were for me.

One would think that I, more than anyone, would know the temptation and stakes. And yet I still failed.

Your student made his own choices, Skywalker. You guide, you teach,but in the end, your student was responsible for the path he chose. And you're a good teacher, kind and compassionate. Must be the farmboy still hiding under the Jedi robes.

If I know you at all, and I do, you showed him the right path. It isn't in you not to.

The two aren't so different as you might think.

The Skywalker I know made mistakes with his students as well. He closed his academy rather than continue, then set on his own path alone, helping when the New Republic needed him. He used that time to further his understanding of the Force.

Why did you leave?

I wasn't ready; I'm still not ready. Not for what's required.

No matter how much my...my Luke might think differently.

Do you think there is something to loose in becoming a Jedi?

There's the sacrifice every Jedi makes. I'm not ready to make that sacrifice.
