Gannicus sits up with a start. Then he groans and sinks back down again, hand sliding to his face. What had startled him?

With a soft grunt he pushes himself up to sitting and looks around. He feels the bruises and cuts of the day before, but they are of little concern. Grass. Why is he on grass? He is almost sure he'd fallen asleep on a stone floor. Though this would not be the first time he woke up somewhere he did not remember getting to.
