[meme] reverse questions
Muns: Post here listing all of the characters you play (you might want to list journals, too, just for reference) or are thinking of playing.
Everyone: Ask the MUNS anything about the GAME or THEIR PUPS, because we all know the muns will answer when the characters won't. They can be specific questions ("How does he feel about her?") or general questions ("Why did you choose this pup?", "How do you channel them?", etc.) You can even have pups ask the questions, but ANSWERS are coming from the MUNS.

i feel like i should have an elsa question but all i got off the top of my head is 'why are they the dumbest and the best'

So Laine and I have talked about this length, obviously, since Cathy's and Jamie's respective careers are so key to their relationship, such as it is, and we've decided the best thing to do at first is flip things on their head, so that Cathy can maybe find a nice theater role and Jamie is stuck facing down a blank page literally and metaphorically. Let her have a little success, let him work.
Of course, the trouble here is that it isn't really about their careers
IS IT CATHYbecause Cathy is someone who needs validation in success and Jamie, frankly, isn't. He's confident enough that, even though he'll miss the money and the parties and the success, he's going to be fine. He'll work on a new novel, he'll chug along while Cathy's doing her show, he'll be great. That's just Jamie. He knows what he wants from life and he knows he can do it, and now he's got four years of great sales to back that up. Whether they'll still falter through this, with Cathy coming from the very end and being Cathy and Jamie being Jamie, or not, I don't know yet? LET'S SEE HOW LONG IT TAKES FOR THEM TO FALL APART!! Or maybe they won't! I genuinely believe that there were red flags literally from day one and that they are fundamentally the wrong kind of people for each other no matter how truly in love they were, but maybe Jamie being forced to take the backseat while Cathy shines will give them the time they need to work on some things. Maybe a taste of success will be enough for Cathy to put a little more trust in Jamie. But theater is a business where you have to pay your dues, and Cathy isn't going to keep getting roles from the jump, whereas Jamie will finish his book and Jamie is Jamie, so it's sure as hell gonna sell. I may even give him Light Out of Darkness as an item, since it really is a big fucking thing for him, obviously, and he is not above copying it down and submitting it for publication, since it is his. Then boom, instant success while he works on his other stories. And then we're back at the start-slash-end and what becomes of them then?
Also also also I mentioned wanting at some point to do a thread with Jamie writing Cathy a story for the millionth time. I'm thinking that, at some point, he might compile those short fables and publish those. Obviously at first this is super-flattering for Cathy, always the muse, but if/when things turn sour, she's not going to see it in such a favorable light anymore.

But that reminds me of the other thing I was wondering! Cathy from the very end, then, so Jamie is from- oh wait, you said four years of success, so that's... not the very end, then, a little earlier?

One thing that is constant, though, and which I have failed at addressing in game so far, is that she didn't really have cause to know how to read or write when she came to Darrow. She's fairly good with figures, but writing was beyond her. Now she helps the boys in their office and she has a chance to be educated, so she's trying very diligently to learn both though she also doesn't want to call attention to the fact that it's still something she's learning.
Then the biggest leap she's taking in adjusting would be divorce. Porthos did some research for her and now Constance knows she can get a no-fault divorce from Bonacieux in his absence, and she's pursuing that. It's... daunting. She wants the freedom, even knowing it might be short-lived, but obviously divorce is a big scary no-no for a 17th century Catholic woman and she's trying to reconcile that with knowing what she needs for herself, and that's sort of the crux of the whole modern thing? There's so much she likes and wants, and she's gradually learning how to let herself have it.

why is jamie wellerstein a poo wagon that i still love so dearlyAfter so many years of playing her, in which ways do you think Eden has grown the most?
no subject
YEAH YOU GOT AN ANSWER, EAT IT
Okay, but question: has Eden grown at all really
I mean, she has in some ways. She fell in love with the first time, which despite her outgoing nature and apparent openness is a big deal, because Eden only seems really open. She shares a lot but there are huge pockets of who she is that remain firmly hidden from others and what she shares depends on who she's talking to. She's a chameleon, and she hasn't learned to keep one true form, so to speak, with all people. Which isn't to say that she's fake or a liar, but that you get a whole bunch of different people out of her sort of. And in a lot of ways, she still think she has to make up for her past, but she's also scared to do anything that would actually let her pursue that goal. I guess the big change, then, is that with Luke gone, she's got a fresh reminder of how quickly they can go back to being dead and it's time to take advantage of the life she has. Which she always says, but she's not so much done. She's very good at arranging her life to look very put-together while still sort of hovering on the surface. She's scared of her powers. She doesn't want to use them but she wants to use them. The panic has waned but the guilt stays strong. So big change, she might slowly start to actually make use of those powers soon. In so, so many ways, though, she's almost the exact same girl; she just keeps moving so it looks like she's changing.

In what ways do you feel Olive has changed the most? The least?
So Veronica. Just how strange would it be on her end if I do bring Mathias back?
no subject
I think she'll definitely want a small ceremony with their friends, maybe a church wedding. The first time around they just went to City Hall with their witnesses, and she wants to get it right this time with all their loved ones there. I imagine it all being quite simple, but there will be cake and friends and some flowers and Jamie in a little suit and so everything will be perfect. :3
I think that Olive has changed the least in that she's still got that instinct to default to humor and to make things into stories and to want things to sort of fit together in a way that makes story-sense. She's also every bit as bright and stubborn and ambitious and loving still, so the core elements are unwavering. But I think she might actually be a tiny bit less secure in herself? She's still fairly confident but at the same time she's not. And I guess that's not that different either, actually, but back home it was sort of a social status/outcast thing and that's not a problem here. Here I think it has a lot to do with not having her family present, not having her parents to support her, and having to make these big life choices and being, you know, in this serious relationship in a nice house with all the trappings of adulthood but not, in a lot of ways, actually being an adult yet. She's only 21, so she thinks she's a grown-up and she's trying to be one and she's had to be one by dint of leaving home at 17, but she's got a lot of growing up to do still, and that can make her feel very unsure of herself because she feels like she should be more prepared and certain than she actually is. Which, again, I guess isn't all that different from home; it's just been turned in a somewhat direction and has different causes. I think she's also actually better with people now? She was always very sympathetic, but she's getting better at reaching out and being there because she has so much more experience now having those real friendships where there's actual give and take, and being better equipped to give that to others and also to expect it.
SO strange. Part of her is always, always going to love him. Hell, part of her is pop culture savvy enough to know that she and Logan are probably TV-endgame and thus, presented with other options, to want a little bit to rebel against that because she hates being told what to do. But now she's in a the best place she's ever been with Logan, give or take some arguments, and she doesn't want to do anything to jeopardize that, and she's never been very good with exes so... IT'LL BE FUN.

What does Else think of Zuko?
What is Veronica's biggest challenge in Darrow?
no subject
Elsa thinks Zuko is wonderful. She thinks he has the qualities of a real leader, which is something she very much admires, without letting it get in the way of his being a person. If that makes sense? She spent so long not letting herself be herself and just being the heir apparent, so being able to have both qualities is also very admirable to her. She likes him very much.
One of her big challenges is always her dad's absence. Like, studying in New York while he was in California was fine because she knew she could go back to him if she needed to, but that's not true here and it chafes. Being trapped is hard on her. Right now she's able to work and keep busy, but she does worry about whether or not that will stay true and what happens if she gets bored. She doesn't do well with becoming stagnant. She's not yet but she worries, which is actually probably her real challenge? She has a big tendency to get restless when things are fine and then to make problems where there are none, so the challenge is resisting that. :

What's your favorite thing about playing Olive? Where do you see her in five years?
no subject
Oh, god, everything. As my characters go, I really don't think Olive's the one I'm most like at all, but I think she's the one I feel the deepest emotional connection to, so even if a thread isn't a happy one, it leaves me content to tag because I get a lot of satisfaction just from playing her. She's someone I can tag a lot of different kinds of people with, and she's someone who, being very adaptable, can adjust and grow and avoid stagnation without changing fundamentally. She's still the same girl and that girl is a good soul with a lot of flaws and that never gets dull for me.
In five years... I mean, I play by ear, so who knows what'll happen between then and now? But she'll be three years out of college by that point. Married definitely. I can see her being on the verge of creating a group of her own — she'll be doing sex education work by then, and I think I can see her taking that out of going class to class on her own or something to kind of heading up a small organization where she can help prepare other people to do that work as well, because it's a hard profession to train for. Possibly about to have her first baby? She'll be 26, almost 27, so I think around then she might think it's about time for them to start their family, but also possibly not quite yet because she really wants to establish her career first. But Eduardo will be 32 by then, so probably she'd at least be planning for it.

And, selfishly, does Constance like Tris? In another world, do you think Jack and Elsa would have been a thing?
