That makes it sound noble. It's just trying to fix a mistake.

Does that mean it’s a self serving mission?

I got some of people kidnapped by Vader and the Emperor. I need to go rescue them.

Not so selfish, then. I would still call that a bit of redemption, even if you only see it as a remedied mistake.

I don't think it makes up for much of what I've done and I have a feeling I won't be around to do any further redeeming.

You’re doing what you can. It’s admirable, as is the fact that you’ve managed to escape from a dark path. I hope you’ll fare better than you expect you will.

Are all Jedi as optimistic as you are?

No. But differing points of view bring a more balanced outlook. And I can be overly cautious as well, in certain situations.

Well, here's a tip... you should be really, really cautious around Clone Troopers.

Clones? Does someone actually use clone soldiers to fight their war?

An entire army of them. They fight alongside the Jedi. Only they were programmed so that if they were given a specific command they would all turn on the Jedi and kill them.

I can’t imagine what might happen in the future to make the Jedi Order desperate enough to resort to such a morally objectionable solution. What a hopeless path we must have out ourselves on.
