He eyes her, wondering how she knows, but she explains it well enough. "I was," he says cautiously. "I fight upon the sands no longer."

"I don't know if I should say 'I'm sorry' or 'congratulations,'" she confesses. She offers him a small smile. "But you look like you could use a shower, anyway." She leans closer, a bit conspiratorially, and adds, "And maybe a little 'hair of the dog'."

"I won my freedom." He knows it's a fact he should be more proud of, but it wasn't as though he ever asked for it. Gannicus studies her, then lifts an eyebrow. A sly smile appears. "If that is some way of offering drink, I would not be disagreeable."

"Didn't think you would be," she agrees. "Come on. I'm not super familiar with this place, but we can at least try to find a liquor store."

"Nothing here stirs memory," he says, following while trying to look around. The chill in the air is noted, but he's too distracted by the foreignness of everything. "It would not be the first time I woke so, but even the manner of people is strange."

"I'm not surprised," she admits. "You're about two thousand years out of your depth here. But, don't worry. I'll take care of you." She winks over at him.

"Two-- what?" Gannicus stops, staring at her. He knows he's imbibed a considerable amount of wine, but he's certain he heard her correctly. "That is not possible."
