Merry Christmas (and happy birthday to Angel). We hope each and every one of you, whether you celebrate the holiday or not, have a wonderful day and an even better new year. You're all so very dear to us, and we love you very much.

And now let's get to gift giving! If you want to, today is the day to throw off your capes and masks and reveal your true identities! Or to keep your recipient guessing and slip off into the night, forever mysterious! It's also a day of celebration for all. Didn't play this year? Have something for someone who wasn't assigned to you? Doesn't matter, have at it! Spread cheer willy nilly and shower each other with love and presents. Today is a free-for-all and anything goes.

SURPRISE, or probably not surprise, by nature of my keeping a weird-ass schedule, IT IS I, your Santa! Also probably not surprise, part two of your gift is... still in progress? Blame holiday craziness and lack of sleep. Now that things are settling down, though, I'm committed to finishing it before the end of the year, so watch this space. ♥

In the meantime, because I like to keep it weird, and because I figure you've probably got a better handle on the period-appropriate music than I do, I've put together a playlist of contemporary songs for a couple of displaced, pining kids from the '40s, whom I love like burning.

Despite some insomnia-related difficulties on my end, I have loved being your Santa this year, as well as chatting and threading more lately. Since I was trying not to be too obvious with kudos the other night, I can add now that I seriously could not have asked for a better Donny for my Julia. I really was not expecting anyone to ever bring him, and he's perfect, and you have been a blast to write off.

Thank you so much! You’ve been a wonderful Santa and I couldn’t be happier. Really. (And your weird-ass schedule and my not sleeping sync up so it all works out in the end.) I love these displaced, pining 40s kids so much especially because they came out of nowhere and hit me like a ton of bricks so thank you again. He may still be brand new, but I’m having a swell time playing Donny and that’s 98% due to your Julia.

I’ve got a terribly nerdy little Xmas present for you too. A period holiday playlist put together with them in mind. Heavy on the pining, swing and jazz, but not a Frank Sinatra in sight. I tried to keep it as pre-1946 as possible, but some things slipped through. There’s lots of standards, a few oddities, and even a polka or two in honor of the accordion genius.
