Merlin’s Beard! Now, this is extraordinary.

[Newt enters slowly, taking in the frankly magnificent insides of what he assumed was merely a phone booth.]

This must be some sort of magic.

[A hologram appears, depicting the author Arthur C Clarke, who says...]

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

[Newt, not easily startled, jumps a bit at the appearance of the hologram. Once he regains himself, he makes his way over to the image, even more curious now.]

A very interesting philosophy. And one that would certainly cause a stir of debate.

[He can call if magic if he likes, she's not too fussed. He used the expression "Merlin's beard" so that's clearly something he's familiar with.]

[The hologram disappears (she's hardly gonna talk through the face of Clarke), and instead, accompanied by an inquisitive ping, a picture of Merlin appears on the monitor.]

[Newt blinks, eyes widening, at the way the first hollogram vanishes and then emerges as Merlin himself. He only just manages to refrain from exclaiming "Merlin's beard!" again.]

Oh, er. Hello?

[Well, she was attempting to spark some information from him, not having him try to engage in conversation. She's terribly out of practice when it comes to human interaction. She gives an annoying wharrk noise. The picture remains unmoving.]

[There's something oddly reassuring about the wharrk noise, no matter how sudden it is. Newt tilts his head, studying his surroundings with care.]

Do you need help with something? How can I help?

[Hmm. Well, technically, yes. Is there a point in asking him? She can feel his good intentions, but that doesn't necessarily mean he'd be any help.]

[Still, she'd try anything at this point. The previous images disappears, and some text appears on the screen instead, flashing insistently.]
