[This is... unexpected. Daine was braced for shouting and thrown objects, not a polite greeting and a compliment. It's not so much the talking that surprises her - folk talk to their animals all the time, even without wild magic to make it a proper conversation. But that's for horses or cows or chickens, dogs or cats, not wolves. Two-leggers don't like wolves as a rule - not without Daine there to allay their fears.

Except for this one, it seems.

Does the woman know she's not a proper wolf?

She's not quite sure if she ought to just shift her head back so she can talk properly, or if she shouldn't do anything sudden lest she start the woman screaming in earnest. In the meantime, she relaxes her stance and wags her tail. If nothing else, she can look like a nice wolf.]

[Odd's bobs, she's not scared at all. Daine eyes the woman's hand awkwardly, knowing what's expected and not quite able to bring herself to do it. When she takes a shape to hide, she does her best to avoid strange two-leggers entirely so this sort of thing doesn't happen. The plan is to go unnoticed, not to play the part while someone pets her or throws a saddle on her back. Her magic might make her a handy spy, but it hasn't made her a good liar.

She sighs, then sits down and offers the woman her paw, instead. It's a trick plenty of dogs know, so it shouldn't come as a shock. What probably will come as a shock is Daine reshaping her mouth enough for human speech.]
