[At least she isn't asking if she knows how to snap her fingers. Daine gives her head a little shake, as if to jostle her brain back into working order.]

Some people can't whistle. But I taught myself to whistle, so I wondered if you could whistle. Can you roll your tongue?

[Daine's still gawping. Is it normal to asks questions like this when you meet someone who could be your own twin? Personally, she would've started with things like 'who' or 'how' or 'if I pinch myself will I wake up.']

I'm not sure what that means. Can you? Do... that?

Jesus, this is weird. You're... I mean, what's your deal?

[She almost asks who 'Jesus' is. The way she's saying it, she makes him (her?) sound like a god. That's just what she needs - another god meddling in her affairs.]

Well, I'm fair certain I'm lost. [She gives their vague surroundings a pensive frown.] Is this a dream? I s'pose that would explain a few things.

[She gives her doppelganger a look of newly-minted suspicion, hands akimbo.] If you're the Graveyard Hag, you might as well show yourself proper. I've had enough of your tricks.

Hey, I'm not- Do I look like a graveyard hag? Whatever that is, I'm not one. [Squints at her, considering how she's dressed and what that sounds like] Holy shit, are you from a world that's all magic and shit? Elves and stuff?

Well, this is like... it's another world, I guess?

[Daine holds her own suspicious squint for a second or two, but then eases back. The Graveyard Hag has changed her appearance before, but not to the point of looking like Daine. Besides, this girl doesn't sound anything like the goddess. Frankly, she doesn't sound like anyone Daine's ever heard before.]

I don't know about elves, but there's magic. Most folk have the Gift, but some have wild magic. That's what I've got. I'm a mage.

[Describing herself that way still feels a bit puffed-up and ridiculous, but at least it makes her feel a bit less lost. She knows who she is, if little else.]

I've been to the divine realms, but it wasn't like this. Does this place have a name? [Not that her geography's top notch, but a name is better than nothing.]

This is Darrow, it's- what magic can you do? Can you do fireballs? Just totally set shit on fire? Do some magic.

[Where's Numair when you need him? The Gift seems to be what she's hoping for. Then again, considering the strength of Numair's powers, it's probably just as well she isn't asking him to start throwing fire around.]

Wild magic isn't like that. It's all to do with animals, so most of what I can do is for them. I can talk to them and heal them if they're hurt or sick.

[But she doesn't expect - or want - an injured animal to just fall out of the sky, and even if one did, healing isn't very exciting to watch. There's only one thing she can demonstrate, really.]

And I can do this.

[Odd's bobs, she feels like a circus performer. Daine holds up her hands, and after a moment, they shift into a pair of furry snow leopard paws. She waggles them.]

Ta-daaa. I can shift entirely, but my clothes don't come with me.

[gaping] Shut uuuuuup. Holy shit! Holy fucking shit, you can turn into a fucking animal? Is it just- do you just turn into that? That is so fucking cool. I cannot believe this shit.

[Daine bites back a grin. She's not familiar with the specific curse words her doppelganger is using, but the overall sentiment is clear enough. This might be the most enthusiastic response she's ever received from someone over the age of ten.]

I had to learn - like whistling. I've only been able to do it for a few years, and I've had magic my whole life. [She lets her hands lapse back into their usual, human shape.] I can only do normal animals, not immortals like unicorns or dragons. [Well, she could. Once. But then she'd be stuck, so best not to go there.] And only really with animals I've met before. I have to think like 'em. But I'm still me when I change, just in a different shape is all.
