I'm Rey. It's not much in comparison, I know.

It's shorter, but that doesn't mean it's not beautiful. And no one is going to shorten yours into something horrible or unpleasant.

Really? "Rey of Sunshine" is just so obvious. And it's strange, you can hate a pet name but when the right person uses it, sometimes because they know it annoys you, it can be rather nice.

I... yes, I do. Soap. That's- that's not his real name of course but it's what he likes to be called.

Why is that? And I can honestly say that I don't know. I've never thought much about it.

Well, it started out as a sort of... slur, really.

I think sometimes people in my world focus too much on that sort of thing, finding that person.

A slur against what? You said that's what he likes to be called?

Against the color of his skin. Implying that he needs more of it since his skin is dark. I think he accepts it because if he embraces it then it loses some of its sting.

My friend Finn has dark skin and I would never call him anything like that!

Then you're better than a good number of people in my own world. He's also of "lower birth" and that means a lot of people think he's beneath them. It's- it's a rather horrible system.

It's a desert. All there is to do is survive. You collect scrap and trade it for food.

Soap would do very well. He works in the boiler room and would probably find the desert rather nice. I'm afraid I wouldn't fare as well.
