[meme] Test Drive

Tag into this post with characters you're thinking of apping to the game (characters who are not currently in-game or currently reserved by someone else). It can be just a tag, a brief EP, a blurb about the character, a line of dialogue, or whatever you want. You can be new to the game, or simply want to test out a fresh pup. Tag each other with these characters or those already in game, and have fun.

Also, please include the name of their canon somewhere in or on the comment or on their profile page.

Erik.

*rubs his face* This is - You sacrificed your - I somehow thought things would be clearer with you around. No offense, professor, but usually you're the one that knows what's going on. That means your powers are completely gone, right now? Not a thing? Because telepathy would be helpful, more than a pair of monster f-

This is an USA of the future. 2016. But not necessarily ours, it seems to be a passive surroundings with an active gathering of all kind of people. From other times, from other worlds, from other dimensions. No-one has yet been able to tell me how or why.

Yes.

For the moment, that’s correct. Though I don’t have any of the serum with me here, so it will wear off in the next twelve hours or so, and my powers will return. If we’re still here by that time.

Interesting. I wonder why we’ve each been brought here, what our presence is meant to accomplish. Inter-dimensional travel is extremely complex; the power that would be needed to manage such a thing would have to be extraordinary. And that’s only based on theories, not practical application.

Twelve hours. I wish I could take your blood, just to see its effects. Did I think this through? I mean, I think through everything, but such a severe change ..did you approve? Did you tell me to?

You'll be back before then. I think. In my experience, it's never more than a few hours, and I have been here twice. I don't want to know what I'm doing to the space time continuum, how much energy is needed to just have living beings hop around through it. If it's a hopping movement.

I don't know if we're here for any kind of reason, Charles. I heard mention of an afterlife, but I can't personally and scientifically support that idea.

You thought it through. And you offered it to me when I’d come to a place where I couldn’t see any point in continuing, not with the school nor anything else. I rely on you, Hank. You did it in an effort to help me heal, and I appreciated the gesture very much.

Twice? Maybe we’re only phasing in and out of this place, possibly because of a naturally occurring phenomenon. But I agree with you; I don’t believe we’re passed on.

Yes, yes of course I thought it through. But to- geesh. I thought we were set out for a brighter future. Not one in which time and space travel are the lesser exciting news items.

It doesn't only happen to mutants, the phasing. I can't call it anything else but random, for now. The people that are brought here, the people that are kept here versus those that can leave ..and we can remember these visits, at least I can.

Well, we were. But there’s only so much that can be done. People’s minds are difficult to change without resorting to violence. And you and I, mutant or not, are still only human.

Maybe it’s a tear in the fabric of space time, created by a mutant? Or some kind of scientific experiment?

Resort to violence? Professor, those are not your words, those are Erik's. I think -

Yes, that could be it. But for this to have been going on for years and years, that means an energy outside any of our imaginations. Planets would have to die for that, unless those few decades were spaces for significant scientific discoveries. How is space travel in 1973?

I know, I know, Hank. And I don’t think it’s right, but sometimes… I won’t do that. But I’m too tired to keep fighting the good fight, Hank.

It’s not much more advanced than space travel in 1962. They did successfully put men on the moon, but that’s the extent of our reach. Could the power, the experiment, be extraterrestrial?

Men on the moon? Hah. Yes, yes of course it could be alien or a gathering of very powerful mutants or witches or whatever walks around here. Because all kinds of creatures do walk around here, and that's why your telep- well, no need to protest an absence.

Just remember that you're never alone fighting it, prof- Charles. That's all- I can't do much about your tiredness right now, definitely not here. But if or when you return to where we should be, please remember that?

Honestly, it’s been so long since I’ve used my powers it would be so overwhelming I doubt it would do much good anyway, even if I had them. And nothing to refine them either, without Cerebro.

If I can remember it, Hank, if this place allows me to, then I’ll keep that in mind.
