Secret Santa Day Four
It's already the fourth day of Chrismukkah. W H A T.
Each day from now through Christmas, you'll find a post like this one waiting. Leave anonymous comments with your gift for your Secret Santee (make sure to put his or her name in the subject line so they can find it!). Remember, it's okay if you don't have something every day. We do, however, encourage you to leave a little note to let them know they haven't been forgotten. Christmas Day will be a free-for-all, where you can leave presents for anyone at all and, if you so desire, reveal your identity.
Let the gift-giving begin.

For those of you who'd like to play around with some Photoshop but don't have access, Pixlr is a fantastic online alternative that comes close. And remember, if you're posting pictures, they won't show up in an anonymous comment, so for those kinds of comments, it's better to use the

Day four and it's all about music, which Santa knows that you love! Santa's elves should have delivered a giftcard* to your email that will allow you to buy some new tunes, or whatever you like! To make this a little more personal, here is one of Santa's favorite (albeit unorthodox and a little bit melancholy!) Christmas songs. Enjoy!

Also oooh. Damien Rice is one of those artists I always love when I hear but haven't followed much, so I'm excited to get to a place where I can turn on sound and enjoy :D

Once again, Santa sent out the elves to gather your gift! Today they went in search of potential icons for Meredith Barrett, which proved a difficult feat! (However, Santa did learn some things. For instance, did you know Jena Malone was the daughter in Contact? Because Santa did not know that.)
Some of these are from tumblr and, as such, are bigger than DW's 100x100 specifications, but Santa knows from experience those can be cut down to fit within DW. Provided any meet your approval, of course.

ANYWAY, on this fourth day of Secret Santa, some kudos for you. Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with Julie's canon, but she's been such a presence in both of my RP games, and I've always been really curious about her. She seems to be a person of great strength, while still being undeniably feminine, which I think is woefully rare. I love her spunk, her determination, her confidence, and I really regret that I haven't made the effort to thread with her more.
And on a personal note, some of my fondest memories of my early days of RP are of threads I did with you. It's been a really long time, but I had particular fondness for your River, who gave me one of my favorite RP friendships, back in the day. You've always seemed like a really kind, low-key person, and I'm really glad that you decided to make the leap over to Darrow this year.

Awww, thank you, Santa. Julie's canon is the most heartbreaking book, but it is also the best one about friendship. People should read it and when they get done crying they should bring us Maddie.
River had SO MANY amazing friendships that I cannot even guess, but I bet I loved it too. <333

But Mrs. Claus did let us use the credit card to get you some paid time for that adorable geek Fitz so you can use some of those icons Santa found you. Oh, and for Miles, too. She also made us cookies and we loved them so much we got the recipe so we can share it with you. Gingerbread, but not hard snaps, soft almost bread-y. The elves lost their shit.
Ingredients:
1st team
1 1/2 sticks of butter (room temp/soft but still solid)
1 2/3 c sugar
1 orange's worth of zest (The elves aren't big on orange so you can leave this out if you like)
2 eggs
1/2 c dark molasses (or regular molasses if you want a slightly lighter final product)
1 lemon's worth of juice (about a tablespoon - don't skip this one, it adds extra zing to the ginger)
Cream the butter and sugar together thoroughly. Add the eggs one at a time until they're combined. Add the rest.
2nd team
4 cups all-purpose flour, plus 1/2 cup additional for rolling, if needed
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon ground dry ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt (kosher or sea)
Mix the dry ingredients together until they're well combined. Mrs. Claus doesn't sift, but she says knock yourself out if you're so inclined, it may make adding it to the wet ingredients easier.
Speaking of that, add the wet ingredients in installments, making sure each one is well-integrated.
Divide the dough into two or three batches (depending on how much you want to work with at a time) and shape into rough disks. Wrap each disk in wax or parchment paper. Refrigerate for an hour or two. You want them COLD to roll them.
When you're ready to roll (sorry) flour the surface you're working on and roll out the dough. Be liberal with the flour, this stuff an be a little sticky. Roll to about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch. (We usually go 1/4 because we think it cooks more evenly.) Use your cutters to make shapes or use a cup to make rounds. Try and get as many as possible each pressing so you don't have to keep re-rolling.
Place on your cookie sheet, I'd recommend using parchment paper, leaving about 1/2 inch between. They won't spread too far as they bake.
Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until the edges just begin to darken. Remove from oven and place on a rack to cool. Decorate if so desired.
Makes around 5-6 doz cookies depending on how big you make the suckers.
