meme: reverse questions
HOW ABOUT A FRIDAY NIGHT MEME?
Muns: Post here listing all of the characters you play (you might want to list journals, too, just for reference) or are thinking of playing.
Everyone: Ask the MUNS anything about the GAME or THEIR PUPS, because we all know the muns will answer when the characters won't. They can be specific questions ("How does he feel about her?") or general questions ("Why did you choose this pup?", "How do you channel them?", etc.) You can even have pups ask the questions, but ANSWERS are coming from the MUNS.

How does she deal with not having Joel around?

oh man
Living in constant incipient terror of everyone around her dying and her being alone in the world again because Joel is the only person she trusts not to up and die on her? Basically.
Because- I mean, she's from just before the end, so she has very mixed feelings on Joel. The creative director for TLOU said in one interview that his take on it is that at the very end he thinks she kind of hates Joel but that it's open to interpretation, and that her voice actress probably has a different answer. Now, me, I think of it as both, she loves him and she hates him at the same time. On some level she knows, she says what she says but she still knows and she's choosing to accept it and to accept Joel, for a million reasons and because... he'll do whatever horrible brutal awful thing he has to in order to survive and be there for her. But at the same time he doesn't entirely see her, he doesn't give her the choice at the very end, and there's those bits where he's chatting away about how she'd like Sarah or how he'll teach her the guitar and not entirely getting that she's not all there any more.
So even though in some ways she should be... I don't know, relieved? Despite all that, it's still like she's missing a part of herself, they went through all that and now he's not even here to explain everything to her and provide a home. He was meant to be the thing that never left and he's not here. So she'll never ever live with anyone else or accept anyone else in that role, like maybe Andrea to a degree but sort of because Andrea's a woman, so it's more that she's rad? Joel's foundational, she is forever on shaky ground without him, for all that he's a terrible influence.
Like, I don't know if she's actually said his name aloud in a thread? If so, not often. She thinks about him all the time but talking about it would be opening up the wounds.
i don't know if this mass of words answers the question i have a lot of complicated thoughts about ellie and joel
also she should meet beth and beth should totally teach her to play the guitar
