Resources

On the way home from work today, I remembered a few different sites I thought might be useful for players, so I just wanted to link those real quick. And then I realized that there are quite a few different things, some more silly than useful, others extremely time-saving, and that we probably all have a couple go-to sites or could use the help.

In light of that, I thought I'd post here and we could all add the things you find useful (or just want to share, really) in the comments below! Later on, I may try to categorize and compile them for easy access in [community profile] cityhall. Not quite a meme, but hopefully this will prove helpful!

HTML Tutorials: The ones I use most often are Links and Images, but they've got a pretty comprehensive catalog of stuff. One day, I will learn HTML like a smart person, but today is not that day and tomorrow isn't looking good either.

Behind the Name: Random name generator, perfect for naming NPCs. Elsewhere on the site, you can look up name meanings, find nicknames or name derivatives in other languages, and see lists of popular names for various countries.

Google Books: If you have a pup from a book canon that's not in the public domain (Les Mis pups, you are so lucky), and can't justify the expense/don't have the funds to purchase searchable ebook copies, the searchable preview versions on here can be a great resource. I've found the Flavia book previews to be pretty good, but (as in all things) your mileage may vary. What's also nice is that the pagination is usually right on or only a little bit off, so if I need to go back to the physical book to read further or something, it's less of a hunt to find the right section.

Aspect Ratio Calculator: Picture/video resizer. It does the math for you!
