How soon before you actually murderize Newt, you horrible horrible person?

I would never actually murder him! And if I did, he would be resuscitated :'DDDD

So how horrible are the things we've seen you do to Newt compared to some of the stuff you have planned? Like, on a scale from 1 to 10, 10 being the worst thing you've done/have planned?

That probably makes no sense.

He actually has a lot of very happy times coming up, so 1 for like, months! The next time I go on a long vacation, we'll see~~~~~

How would Newt feel about a world in which the only pilots who could operate Jaegers were fourteen-year-olds? Would he be in support of letting them pilot, or would he rather restrict them and do whatever possible to fight with less effective means?

I think he'd be more supportive of it than not. I also think he viewed the Jaegers and their pilots as tools in his own grand slam plan to close the Breach--he hadn't even recognized Raleigh as the pilot who'd taken down Yamarashi and that would have been a big deal, especially within the PPDC--so I'm not entirely convinced the ethics of the whole thing would really be a big issue for him. He'd still work as hard as he could to find the best way to fight in the way only he's capable of doing.

He's had a lot of them with Kate already tbh :') As long as she's involved, it's a good day.

He'd be so torn between being terrified that there are more out there and that means they're still looking for him........... or being super stoked because this means he can get back to digging through kaiju parts once it gets taken down :D How would it get taken down? Ehhhhh, details~

Do you think Newt is ever going to attempt to learn more about where Elizabeth is from?

He would absolutely love to learn more about where she's from, that good old-fashioned curiosity always gets the best of him.

Well, let's see... Newt would just go fetal and Charlie Day would probably just be like ~fuck this, I'm getting a beer. So it would probably just be a draw XD

I'm always really impressed by the way you balance Newt's eccentricities while still portraying him as a motivated and well-rounded character. Is there anything you consciously do to maintain that?

Awww, thank you <3 The only thing I consciously do when writing Newt is to remind myself that he's just such a passionate person. He's a bit of an oddball sometimes, yeah, but it's not for off-the-wall reasons. He's curious, he's excitable, he's the kind of guy who believes in himself and maybe sometimes he's all that to a fault, but he is who he is and he makes no apologies for that. He sees himself as a hero, just like so many people do in their own life stories, and I love that about him because it makes it so fun to write a guy who can be such a shithead but is also truly so smart and so energetic and so easy to like because he's got this bizarre optimism about the world that comes from thinking he's always going to come out on top.

What would Newt have done if Derek & Saffron hadn't been able to get the ring back (say, if the dude had already pawned it)?

Good question, he definitely wouldn't have relied on the police to get it back for him. I suspect he would have gone on a one-man mission to hunt that thing down. I definitely don't think he would have asked anyone for help, except for maybe Chuck.

LMAOOOO god. I think they'd be the types who wouldn't go out of their way to seek each other out but a regular "accidental" meet-up at the bar to brood with each other wouldn't be out of the question.

now that Newt's palling around with Torchwood, is he going to be going to cheat on kaiju by drifting with any other wacky aliens?

hahahaha you know what, given the chance, he probably would. He'd probably be down to drift with a weevil just to understand what the actual fuq they want or why/how they got to Darrow.
