Meme: Reverse Questions

Muns: Post here listing all of the characters you play (you might want to list journals, too, just for reference) or are thinking of playing.

Everyone: Ask the MUNS anything about the GAME or THEIR PUPS, because we all know the muns will answer when the characters won't. They can be specific questions ("How does he feel about her?") or general questions ("Why did you choose this pup?", "How do you channel them?", etc.) You can even have pups ask the questions, but ANSWERS are coming from the MUNS.

Katherine - how uncompromisingly herself she is, lady Does Not Give A Shiz, so I find her narration just a continuous delight. I like when she gets foiled and petulant, I like when she pulls something off and other people get annoyed, she's just... forever entirely herself. She don't care about yo judgements!

Ellie - I mean, it's always a hard call, any character there's so many things, but I think my favourite single thing that isn't like LOOK HOW COMPLEX THE CHARACTER LET US DISCUSS LAYERS is the whistling and the puns, it just... symbolizes everything she's about, she carries books of puns around the post-apocalypse world to lighten the mood. ACES.

Jessica - this changes day by day. Right now it's her canon Nick Fury Jr attitude, all going rogue and waging crusades and showing up in people's bedrooms to recruit them and sassing the Director of SHIELD about making deals with evil organizations.

What kind of dynamics are you hoping to establish and explore for Elsa in terms of what the kids are calling CR these days, if there is anything and it's not just a me-style 'idk LET'S SEE WHAT GOES DOWN.' Or what do you expect her relations with people to be like? What will she do in the absence of a queen-dom? FREE SPACE TALK ABOUT ELSA

God, yes. I'd really like to dabble with more of that kind of thing for her as the game goes on, too. Like I want her to get the thing, I forget what it's called because I'm due for a rewatch, from the first movie that Peter's dad made that sprays stuff over the whole area, to facilitate some kind of plot, and get her more into those kinds of plots like Kaine's and all and have her deal with that angle of things and be more of a participant than just... there. Agency, whoo! Maybe one day she'll have a superhero science lab of her very own.

Goals for Elsa: EP her this weekend, is the most immediate. Get her out there, play the crap out of her, put her into all kinds of situations, let her cope with her anxiety, and get to know her sister again. And I've only had the chance to do one tag of her knowing so far, but she's incredibly excited and awe-struck at having seen what Jack can do. It's very validating for her not to feel alone in this, and she really never expected that at all, so I think it's comforting to her and actually makes the process of being in Darrow a lot easier. :3

YES. I AM SO SORRY I AM THE WORST OMGGGGGG. I really want to EP Eden this month, or we could do some kind of private thread?

Yep! From square one, I knew that had to be the case. I just don't think I can wrap my head around her not knowing Neil and Lucy and the others, and it'll help a lot with settling her into Darrow, because she's not always the most adaptable.
girlalmighty: (frozen: and I like warm hugs)

[personal profile] girlalmighty 2014-03-08 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, gosh, everything. Just everything. I love how absolutely warm and compassionate she is, and I love that she's such an understated presence, so calm and kind and thoughtful, and that she can also scream and shout when she's passionate about something and it's messy and real, and the narrative never treats her as "overly emotional" or "hysterical" when she does. I love her dignity and grace and curiosity. I love that she has a strong belief in right and wrong, but never sees people in clear-cut black and white. She's capable of believing Abigail is hiding something important, but still believing in her and her potential and her goodness, and caring for her. She, for me, is the epitome of the kind of character I've wanted SO badly to see: a female character who is undeniably strong, but not in the Strong Female Character way, where her strength comes from intellect and emotion both.

And I've said this before, but: her ability to maintain boundaries is so amazing to me I practically see it as a superpower. Obviously she cares deeply about Will, for example, is quite probably in love with him, but she's still able to put her foot down and say that she has to follow her own advice and do what's best for her. She's able to care for others while still taking care of herself, and that's something I really, really need in my life, so I guess I've kind of hoped playing her would help a little of that rub off on me.

I don't even know about Katie! She's another example of a different kind of strength, which is really what called me to her, because I think domestic abuse survivors are often painted with the same underdeveloped brush in fiction, and she's a much, much more complex portrait of that, and she's just amazing to me. <3
girlalmighty: (frozen: as close as we could be)

[personal profile] girlalmighty 2014-03-08 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
I think she most wants to learn control. She wants to be sure she can continue to harness her powers in a productive way without hurting anyone. At the end of the movie, obviously, she's doing that, but I just don't think recovery happens that fast and there's a trepidation to her that, to me anyway, speaks to the probability that she's still nervous but she's confronting those nerves. So I think she'd most want to be sure she can use her powers even when stressed out and anxious.
girlalmighty: (gg: make me merry happy)

[personal profile] girlalmighty 2014-03-08 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
Katie thinks Saffron is wonderful. :3 Smart and sweet and compassionate and talented. Like, she basically thinks Helen could do anything and, while doing so, still be a shoulder to lean on when her friends need her. I think these are traits Katie really values, and also that... like, I think she has some of that going on in herself, but she doesn't see it as clearly in herself as she does in Helen, so it's something she wants to emulate, really.

In five years, Olive sees herself out of college, doing something really cool and helpful. She's not sure yet what, which makes her vision of the future kind of hazy, because she still doesn't know what she wants to major in and where her heart is leading her in terms of a career, because she's so passionate about so much. She might go into psychology and become a therapist, or she might even go into journalism, or maybe even she'll study sociology and become a social worker. What she's sure of is that she wants to do something she loves that also contributes to society and helps people. And in ten years, she sees herself being very successful at that thing and also — like she doesn't think about it in depth or anything, she kind of just assumes — married, possibly with a kid or two. Actually, she doesn't think about the timeline that much, but she'll almost certainly be married in five years, too.

YES. I am reeeeeally looking forward to this, oh my god. I get so pumped up when I think about it.
girlalmighty: (frozen: conceal; don't feel)

[personal profile] girlalmighty 2014-03-08 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm gonna talk about Olive first because haha ha ha ha you said talk about Elsa, you'll get that. But... yes. She's seriously upset and I assume she went home and cried at Eduardo a lot because that's an incredibly rough thing to grapple with and she's self-aware enough to be okay, this once, with knowing she can't handle it alone. But she's a resilient kid, and she'll be alright. JUST REALLY SAD FOREVER. She knows it's not Jess's fault, which means she can only be mad at the city, and she hates that because it's really aimless and unproductive and she can't do anything about it. :/

ELSA. Oh, god, I love her so much, Scott, I just love her so much. Okay, so number one priority for CR is Anna. They're the kind of best friends that bounce back after years apart, but that's still a huge gap of time and they haven't been sisters in this way in THIRTEEN YEARS, so that plus being somewhere new and sharing an apartment that's smaller than Elsa's private living quarters in Arendelle is a new challenge, and they have a lot to learn about each other. And that's just really exciting for me, because, I mean, you know how I feel about this, this is one of the biggest things in the movie for me, because her relationship with Anna so closely echoes my own with Meg, and it's not something I've ever gotten to play with in writing before.

I'm looking forward to seeing how she interacts with Jack, because he's a mythical being in her culture, but here he's also the guy who knows how to do what she does, but way better, and she wants to learn so much and be able to be safe with what she does. And Zuko because fire powers. Beyond that, it's totally a idk LET'S SEE WHAT DOES DOWN thing. I don't do a whole lot of planning? There are always personality traits I'm especially interested in and things I want to look at and I do know one small bit of plot I want to do with her later in the year, but mostly I just see what happens with those, very que sera sera.

I'm very excited to see how she deals with relations of any kind, though. She's been so isolated and the only person she's 100% comfortable with is still Anna, and I think there's a part of her that is still definitely afraid that people are going to be suspicious of her at best when they find out what she can do. So she's still kind of wary and she still has her anxiety to deal with, and she needs more time and experience to work past that instinct to keep people at arm's length, because she has more practice at subduing the instinct to be warm and friendly instead. Like, when we see her as a kid, she is so warm and open and mischievous and enthusiastic and confident, and I very much think those aspects of her are still there, but they just need to be... thawed out, so to speak. We see bits of that in the movie as she embraces her abilities, but now she needs to deal with embracing it in the way of not being afraid how other people will deal with.

And I think the opinions of others are VERY important to her. She was raised to be queen. She's had all this expectation on her from day one (she alludes to this in "We Know Better," of all things, which... I love that song, but Elsa, you're three, how are you forming these sentences). She's been under a lot of pressure, and it's clearly very important to her to do right by her country. Like, it bugs me because I've seen people read her as selfish for running away, in which case, I don't think they saw the same movie I saw. Because to me, Elsa is dangerously selfless. Her guiding principles are duty and devotion to others. I think at the point when she's crowned, she basically sees her lot in life as being the absolute best queen she knows how to be, and that's it. With her abilities, she's not planning on going out among the people, and she's not planning to be, like, a super loved monarch (even though it seems that she is, which makes me think her parents must have been, so their example is one more thing she has to live up to). She's certainly not expecting to get married; I mean, she can't touch anybody, doesn't think she can, and can't tell anyone, so how could she get married? How could she have heirs? She's just gonna be alone and do the best she can and one day Anna will take over, or her children will. So all she really has is, can I be a good queen? What do people think of me? How well will I serve my people? And add to that her fear of being seen as a monster, and she has a lot to deal with in terms of self-image and how she reacts to other people's opinions of her.

So in a way not being queen will be good for her, because that's a lot of pressure off of her. On the other hand, she really does not know what to do with herself. It's literally the only job she's ever prepared for. We know she's a gifted scholar, but she's educated about as far as the 19th century, and she's not equipped to work for someone else. I mean, she's good-hearted and devoted, but the girl's a queen, make no mistake. She gives the orders. She doesn't take them. She fences. She's a poet. None of this is very useful in the modern world, so I have no idea what she's going to pursue for work. I just know she will work, because she's too responsible to do anything else. She likes math, so she's probably handling all the finances. Actually, you know, she's really good at geometry and shit, maybe she'll become an architect. She clearly has a gift for design. But that's all natural talent with no training, so she'd have to go to school to figure out how to do that with, you know, stuff that isn't ice. Maybe fashion design. She has a very distinctive sense of style (ELIE SAAB ELIE SAAB ELIE SAAB), if she can replicate it with fabric that, y'know, other people can wear that isn't made of ice.

We do see that Arendelle is a fairly progressive monarchy, at least. Oaken may or may not be gay, and Anna doesn't bat an eye at that. There are definitely people of color among the courtiers. (Like, I agree that neither of these makes for real representation, but it does tell me a lot about the society Elsa was raised in.) She's obviously very different herself. So in that sense, I think she'll step into modern society pretty well. It's just a matter of figuring out technology, coming to terms with not being able to go back right away and rule Arendelle, and determining how to provide for herself Anna.

Kaine: Cass Jesse: Rebekah Billy: That he can live on his own and not at the orphanage or a foster home. Tauriel: That she's free to do what she wants without having to consider her duty to her kingdom.

She's probably the coolest adult she knows in terms of not being terrible to him. Obviously he thinks she's gorgeous too but also really nice. Probably too nice in that he thinks she might be a little naive.

So many plots, it's ridiculous. I'd like to do a homeplot with her--not only is there a mystery from later in her canon that makes a really great self-enclosed plot, having her go back to her family after being away from them for a while could give her the chance to look at things with a better perspective.

I also have a whole bunch of ideas for her future items (one from each of the six books, plus her bicycle) and if we ever do fearplot for Halloween, I'm going to be utterly, utterly dreadful to her.

I am considering bringing her in as a transfer because of the angst and the drama. Coraline has such big, deep seated abandonment issues which is a thing in the books but has definitely grown on the island. So for her to find out that she has left the island and left those she loves behind (and her one and pretty much only home) would put her close to the edge. But then additionally to find those she loves or some of them at least here in Darrow, living their lives and to her at least (abandoning her even more) that would completely mess with her head. And I am all about messing with Coraline's head.

Also, if I did bring Coraline without being a transfer then I would probably have to bring her as ten year old Coraline? Which I could do but for the City, I don't think would be a good fit. I suppose I could always bring her as straight canon- exiting from like years after the books but I don't like to do that often in games. (I have done it in other games, she was a med student in one and in another she was a Doctor.) But a straight up transfer to me brings my favourite character over to the game and also gives me immediate drama plot.

essentially...

I have always loved AtU, and Max and Jude's friendship in particular. And since there's already a Max and Lucy waiting for him, it's hard to not want to app him. :D And yes, he will eventually be okay, but he will be in denial for a while first. ;)

LOL! I love playing Scott so so much. There was a period right near the beginning after I apped him when I considered dropping him because he just wasn't gelling like I'd hoped, but I gave it a bit of time and I'm glad I did. I like where he is and where he's going, and that he has his mom here helps a lot, too. You get threads with him by tagging him! XD (He's top leveled at Mardi Gras, btw. ;) Just sayin.) God. My favorite thing about him? I love the close relationship he has with his mother, I love his loyalty, but I think...his integrity is my favorite thing. He is a pretty amazing kid.

Well, Enjolras would be so utterly miserable in Darrow without a Cause, and at the time Bahorel was supposed to stay an NPC for use in PSLs. :P But he didn't listen, the brat. Also I adore Jehan and I had a really strong voice for him and I adore the friendship Becca and I had fleshed out between him and Henri. :) Also he shares Henri's love of learning, and the two of them discovering all the wonders of the future together just makes me flail with joy. XD Then again, Jehan makes me flail a lot.

I do! I'm actually seriously considering a canon update for him, although I don't know how much of it I want to give him. Although it's also tempting to have him find the true alpha within through a different path here. THat would require me to come up with plot though, and I'm better at riding the coattails of others. *G* Still, it's something I'm considering. Either way that is something I really do want to do with him, yes.

Well, he won't shut up, for one. *G* I loved the movie the very first time I ever saw it, and I love Jude's personality, the laid-back attitude he has, and yet with a passion beneath that can bubble over. Also, his friendship with Max is just so amazing, and getting to play with that in Darrow (and getting to have him deal with a Lucy that is far older than she should be) is so exciting to me, words can't express. :)

Kaine: I love Spider-Man. He's been my favorite hero ever since I was 2 years old and tried to swing on the drapes of our bay window. I super identified with the nerdy, picked on teenager who just needed superpowers to be an awesome hero alterego. I've played Peter before and had a blast with him but I've always loved the Clone Saga and Ben Reilly and Kaine. With the release of the new Scarlet Spider featuring Kaine it was a perfect storm of everything I loved.

Jesse: Pitch Perfect is one of the few movies I can watch more than once that isn't a mindless action movie. It's just so fun and kind of every character in it wins. I love Jesse's attitude of just... rolling with everything. He does things for different reasons than everyone else around him. He joins the Trebles because it seems interesting, not because he's really into a capella, etc. I don't generally do well with "normal" characters but I felt like I could really do Jesse justice and he would be an easy fit in Darrow. Plus Laine's Beca was amazing and a blast to play off of.

Billy: Captain Marvel has always been one of my favorite characters and while I like the nicer version of Billy better I think his grumpy self has way more room for growth over the long term. I wanted to be able to grow him as a person and a hero.

Tauriel: Bad ass Elf chick. She's such a great addition to the Tolkein mythos and so much fun. Just the idea of her being thrust into the modern world and having to deal with all of that seemed so super fun to me.

Awww, leave a note, Cass!
