Secret Santa Day Three
On the third day of Chrismukkah, this mod slept in. Thank god for the weekend. Let's see what else we have to be thankful for.
Each day from now through Christmas, you'll find a post like this one waiting. Leave anonymous comments with your gift for your Secret Santee (make sure to put his or her name in the subject line so they can find it!). Remember, it's okay if you don't have something every day. We do, however, encourage you to leave a little note to let them know they haven't been forgotten. Christmas Day will be a free-for-all, where you can leave presents for anyone at all and, if you so desire, reveal your identity.
Let the gift-giving begin.
Don't forget: You can use
citysecrets for all your comment-posting needs. If you need to upload pictures, ImageShack and TinyPic are both pretty good for anonymous uploads, or you can use the livejournal gallery Deense kindly set up for us.

Honestly, I had a really hard time finding caps from The Crazies that weren't dark as hell. I'm not really happy with the first graphic, but maybe you can find a use for it.
KUDOS:
The Crazies, I saw in the theater with my dad. Timothy Olyphant was a pretty huge draw for me, I've gotta admit, plus the fact that I'm a Romero fan, and I wanted to see how this adaptation went. When I left the theater, I found that Russell was really the character that stuck with me. For a supporting character, without a whole lot of canon background or ties to the world, they managed to give him a lot of really interesting conflict, which revealed a lot about a character that could've been boring and flat. When you started talking about apping him, I was really, really excited, and he's really exceeded my expectations.
One thing I think you're really great at is playing these average-joe characters, thrust into really extreme situations. It's not an easy thing to do, by any means. I've never felt like I could play the type of characters you make seem so easy. Once they're out of those extreme situations, I never seem to know what to do with them, but you manage to keep them interesting, keep them well-rounded and completely true to character. It's something I really admire, and Russell is a perfect example of that talent.
Plus, he's still got the greatest goddamn moustache in the city. No contest.

Russell's moustache thanks you, too.

You play such great, strong women as I mentioned yesterday (and guys too! There are guys!) and even if you have some of this music, I hope that some is new, and that there's something here for you to love.
Also - A lot of these are covers. I really love covers. I am inflicting this love on you.
Tracklist:
Bulletproof - The Boat People (okay so the first song is two guys but SUCH a great cover)
Burning Up - Adalita
Criminal - Fiona Apple
Dancing in the Dark - Mirah
Don't Ever - Missy Higgins
Don't Stop - Gin Wigmore
Dusk Til Dawn - Ladyhawke
Dying Day - Gin Wigmore
Fall at your Feet - Claire Bowditch

Happy Ever After - Gin Wigmore
If only - Gin Wigmore

Until then, KUDOS
Alright, so I will admit that I know nothing about Amy's canon, but it's impossible not to love her. She's so cute and I love all the threads I've had with her, they've always been so much fun. The care that goes into each tag is so obvious and this voice is so perfectly clear and so consistent. The playful side of her is so much fun to thread off and it's also interesting to see the other sides of her, parts of her that aren't always being overtly displayed by her, but are still so clear in the writing. In particular, I've loved reading threads between her and Rory. She's hilarious and adorable and magnificent. Her attitude is just so much fun and she always comes across as so full of life and so happy to be alive, too. The kind of pup who celebrates who they are and does it in a really fun way.
I hope this won't give me away, but I have to mention that one of my favourite threads I've had in this game has been with her. It was one of those threads that was so funny and so perfect and it's because of how well you write Amy and how much of a blast you clearly have with her that made it so fun to thread.
She is just wonderful and you make her wonderful.

First off, you're a pretty amazing person. You're smart, you're clever, you're thoughtful and opinionated, you're funny. You're the kind of person who speaks their mind, but isn't mean about it. You're open to civil discussion, and I really respect and like that about you. You're supportive. You're there for your friends. Basically you're a great person and I count myself pretty lucky to know you.
But then we get into your writing and it's like, ugh, are you serious, could you save some talent for everyone else or something, like really. You have this absolutely stunning style I can't get enough of and any time I get a tag from you, I am awed by the quality of it. Not that it's showy or overwhelming. In fact, it's the opposite. There's this lyrical simplicity and clarity to the way you write that's just beautiful. It's clean, no fuss. You have an eye for exactly how much and what kind of detail is needed. I'm incredibly jealous.
It's something that translates well in both of your men. They share a lot, but they're utterly different and I love that. They both come from such harsh backgrounds (no pun intended), and it shows. That's the other thing I admire about you: you don't flinch. You don't let the rough edges escape. You show everything and you don't hide from the less admirable qualities they possess. You're one of those rare writers who is truly unafraid of the fact of both the light and the darkness in their characters, and not always in equal measure. It makes them both fascinating and so real to watch. You're not scared of going to dark places, and that's so important with someone like Mike. The cynicism seems more than usually personal with him. You can see the struggle he goes through within himself, though he won't show it, how aware he is of his own flaws and darkness. His relationship with Neil is one of my very favorite things in this game. And then there's Delta. I'm not at all familiar with his canon, but I've been enthralled with him from day one. There's something captivating about the way he interacts with people, something almost innocent about him. I can't wait to see where they both go.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-22 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)So while I know very little about Max and his canon (you may flog me and make me watch it with you when we have time!), I've put together a few songs from the era, some covered by newer artists, all carefully obsessed over.

Re: ANGEL~ <3
SANTA THIS IS AWESOME. Because I actually don't have Fortunate Son, and it's one of my unofficial Max songs. HOW DID YOU KNOW? 8DDDD
