I have. We were acquainted in my youth [oh what violent, uncomfortable histories are contained in that bland admission] but it seems that he was brought here from a time before we met.

The Powers that control this place are capricious indeed. They have brought the Lady Galadriel, Lord Maedhros, and an Elven fighter named Tauriel, all from very different times.

So few Eldar. Is the rest of this city entirely made up of the race of Men, then?

At this time, I believe so. Two Dwarves were once present, from the line of Durin, but no longer. And there are those who have powers and skills that Men do not have, but they are not of your people either.

Do you recall the names of the dwarves? [Finding out if the Durin he knows has been here as well might not make anything better, but it would at least be a connection and Elrond will gladly take any of those that he can at the moment.]

They were called Fíli and Kíli. Their uncle was Thorin Oakenshield, son of Thráin, son of Thrór. I know not their lineage beyond that. The Dwarves are ever watchful of their language and their lineage in my time, though perhaps not in yours.
