One day, she thinks, she'll stop this back and forth nonsense. One day, she'll either come here for good, or she'll never see it again. It's silly to be bothered by it, but she is. It's a taste of a certain freedom, a tease of a new adventure, that gets ripped away — and she never remembers it until she's here again.

She wonders if sweet Martin is nearby again, if they can meet again, and chat. She walks a ways — today, she's come from the start of the Great Hunt, Veronica's grotesque idea of tradition made inhumane reality. Her outfit is no different from anyone else's attending the Hunt, but she finds men and women alike turn their heads to look at her — and she likes the looks on their faces. It puts a certain pep in her step as she walks, and an admittedly smug smile on her face.

She draws out her cigarette case, pausing to light, only—

Snik, snik.

Her lighter is dead. Lari sighs and turns to the first person she sees.

"I'm so sorry to bother," she says, genuinely, "but do you have a lighter, or a matchbook? Mine appears to have run out."

Okay, so Rose stares a bit. It's hard not to. The woman's outfit would normally scream 'fellow ghost,' but she's obviously among the living. The coat gives it away, not because there's anything modern about it, but because it's lendable. Styles may change, but that quality remains an unmistakable constant.

Rose has had enough time to sort out her own appearance, exchanging the outfit she died in for something a little less obviously out of date: worn jeans, boots, and the white undershirt Gary sometimes let her borrow. Her lemon-bleached waves have given way to a shorter bob. She could almost pass for normal, except for how underdressed she is for the current weather.

That's fine. Live-cold can't touch her when she's like this, and dead-cold is constant in a way her chosen outfit couldn't hope to combat. She's used to it.

She's not used to being approached, though — she normally chooses her own marks, and doesn't linger in the daylight for shits and giggles. But there's no easy dive into the twilight here, so she shrugs apologetically, hunching in on herself a little as if to ward off the chill. "Sorry, but no," she says, thumbs hooking into her empty pockets. She can't imagine a lighter into being, and even if she could, it wouldn't strike a flame the living could make use of. Not without some borrowed clothes, anyway.

Okay, what the hell. (That's a human thing. They might stick their noses where they don't belong, but they've got some good phrases.) Vetra looks around as people dance away from her arrival, which is about as interesting as stepping through a doorway, since... that's what she did. She stepped through a doorway on the Tempest and found herself walking out onto the grassy knoll of the park she hadn't seen in... Spirits, it's been years, hasn't it?

The memories trickle back in, but when she draws up her omni tool, she sees familiar readings, and matching scans from the last time she was here. Those hadn't been there on the Tempest... or had she just not been looking for them?

"Uh... Hi," she offers, waving a three-fingered hand. "Name's Vetra."
