We are friends. I just don't have a lot of very close ones.

It's one of the many, many things. There are so many things that one could dislike about me; the fact that I'm married to someone you care for is just -- icing.

That's fair. And also good to know. I ...don't have very many friends at all, so I find it hard to tell, sometimes, if someone isn't close, if they want to be friends or are just being polite. I'd like to be someone you trust. I care about what happens to Neil's friends, but I also trust his judgement about people, and you seem like someone who's passionate in his convictions. I admire that.
