People come and go strangely a lot for me. But this, this is more than even I'm used to, which is saying something.

It is, isn't it? And so many at once. I don't imagine your delusions usually feature such crowds.

They really don't. They're usually pretty empty, actually. Which I guess makes sense, being alone most of the time and all that, but it makes this that much weirder.

Wouldn't your hallucinations then involve more people to counterbalance the aloneness of life? Or do you prefer it?

Force of habit, I think. Or maybe one or two imaginary friends at a time is all my brain can come up with. It's probably a good thing. You remember when I thought it was weird that I was making you up when I'd never seen you before? You never go out, you wind up with a pretty limited pool for your imagination to choose from, and some of those are not worth reworking into hallucinations.
