Are you a vagrant?

[ Bart's pretty sure he can't, but who knows how little kids work. Maybe the universe takes care of him, too. ]

Do I look like a vagrant to you?

[ She widens her arms, showing off her outfit, which is entirely comprised of ill-fitting clothes covered in suspicious stains. She also doesn't look as if she's bathed in weeks, but when she next speaks, her tone is matter-of-fact. ]

I got a job.

[ He stares at her, taking in her appearance, too. She looks exactly like a vagrant to him. ]

What's your job?

[holistic_assassin]

[ She probably shouldn't get sidetracked, but people don't usually talk to her. Not like this. It's all 'who are you' and 'why are you doing this' and 'oh god no,' boring stuff. Bart sniffs, sticks the machete into the dirt, point-first, then sits down, hunched forward, gesturing liberally as she speaks. ]

I go where the universe wants me to go, and I do what the universe wants me to do. And if I do it right, I get a sort of... cosmic compensation.

[ That's probably a lot of big words for a little kid. Bart sits back, shrugging. ]

Mostly, I just kill people.

[ He watches her, still unfazed. Almost unconsciously, he mimics her posture. He doesn't seem surprised or confused by her declaration. Just thoughtful. ]

Do you kill bad people?

[holistic_assassin]

I kill whoever I feel like killing, and if I kill them, then they were my target. I'm a holistic assassin.

[ Again with the big words. And, to be fair, it didn't exactly answer his question. ]

But yeah, I guess they're bad people. Like, one time, my buddy Ken tried to talk me outta killing this guy, and then it turned out the guy wanted to kill us and take our car. That's bad, right?

[ She pauses, realizes she misses Ken, then shrugs again. ]

All I know is that if I kill them, it means they're supposed to die. The why don't matter so much.

So you kill people just because you want to.

I kill people because I'm s'posed to. The universe sends me where I need to go. If it didn't want me to kill someone, it wouldn't take me to them.
