I think he'll be happy! But confused, because I'm not sure he's heard that people can come back. Though because I brought Matthias in such an early canon point, it's the Darrow!Inej he largely bonded with, so that will be a weird experience to have had a friendship with her that won't have existed with the new one.

(Also I haven't finished Crooked Kingdom yet. I should probably get on that.)
