MEME: Pups Meet the Muns

Let's try something a little different (or a little old school, for some of us). It's the weekend, I'm coming down sick, and I want something a little cracky and way out of game.

So here's the gist. Imagine a very large room filled with all of us, like a ridiculous sleepover party, at which, of course, we're all hanging out, probably on our computers, doing our thing.

Now imagine the door opens and our characters have found us. (How? Well, it's Darrow. They walked through the wrong door probably.)

Tag in as yourselves (mini top level style tag optional, but fun!), and then tag each other, whether as yourselves or with your various characters. I'm sure they've got a few bones to pick with us. In fact, feel free to top-level your characters as they wander around, too. Obviously nothing counts in game, and consider this open for as long as it stays fun.

It has been a long. fucking. day.

Wee small hours or no, Stefanie has a big cup of coffee on the table beside her, curled up with her computer on her lap, nodding along with Hamilton (still not even through act one. Fuck this busy week, honestly). So, at the end of the clusterfuck work has been, it's nice to spend a little time doing nothing with her favorite people.

Until that door opens.

She knows what happens when the door opens without warning and every player accounted for.

"Red alert," she calls out. "We've got company!"

"What's going on?" There's a blurry question that comes out of a room to the right, before Amanda toddles (the most applicable word, given that her hair's standing straight up, she's in a giant t-shirt, and it's alarmingly clear that she's half asleep) into the room.

It takes only a second for her eyes to widen, and she vanishes again, only to come back with a: leggings, b: somewhat tamed hair, and c: a giant, giant cup of tea.

"Blame Jess for me being awake, but hey, at least that means I don't miss this." Settling herself in an overstuffed armchair, she takes a sip of her tea. Peppermint. "This... is going to be weird." Holding her mug up in salute to the new company, she tries to seem welcoming - it's the least she can do.

"Stef," there's a tone of alarm in Amanda's voice as she suddenly realises exactly what she's gotten herself into. "The fact that I routinely run my characters through the ringer - they wouldn't really know that, right? I mean, that it's me? I would hope that they don't."

She pauses. "I mean, Tara carries a gun, and Caroline- I mean. You know. I should be glad, though, that I haven't apped Starbuck yet... right?" It's clear that she's trying to take that as a small favor, but it's still definitely a concern.

"...fuck."

It's not like Kait hasn't heard of this before, and it's not that she isn't a teeny bit excited, but isn't the point of this kind of game being online that she's not supposed to have to deal with actual people, actually in front of her?

Apparently not. With a sigh, she sets her laptop aside and ignores the desire to grab a Valium.

At least she doesn't have to deal with Arya Stark anymore.

"...can I borrow your computer?" Mindy asks, expression suggesting that she's not at all prepared to accept no as a response. She really, really needs to check whether she accidentally tweeted that picture she'd totally only meant for Danny and her iPhone is mysteriously flatlining.

"...don't let her borrow your computer!" Kaitlyn yells, because she knows Mindy's history of downloading viruses that will probably bring about ISIS. It's all unintentional, of course, but the road to hell and all of that.

Stef reaches out to pat her arm reassuringly. "Well, I mean, they probably know," she says, "but... lots of good things have happened to them too?" It's probably not the most comforting answer in the world, but she's pretty sure those two women in particular are reasonable types most of the time.

She pulls a face, thinking of her own roster. "At least Harley is much more stable these days."

Stef freezes, glancing from Mindy down to her computer and up again and then back, her hands gone immobile. "Oh, boy." It's so hard to say no to Mindy. She's Mindy. How could someone say no to her? But... laptop...

"I — uh — what — why?"

Stef twists to catch Kait's eye, wincing. "I don't know how to say no," she hisses, a stage whisper, as if Mindy weren't standing right in front of her.

Okay, so, like, it's a meme or something totally meta, and Elle can see why plenty of people would use this time to voice their grievances, but she really doesn't have any. School is already kicking her ass, but she's basically happy anyway, just tired. In short order, she decides, she'll bop around and introduce herself, get to meet people, because being on this side of things is way interesting, but right now...

"I could so use a coffee. Who's got the coffee?"

"Your computer!" Mindy says, a little more aggressive. It wouldn't be the first time that a picture of her went viral, but the sooner it's down, the better. Assuming it's up. She hopes it's not. "Or like, iPhone, iPad... oh my god, what else has Apple come out while I've been gone?"

"...I don't drink coffee?" Kait winces, because that's one of her many flaws and not what she really wants to greet The Elle Woods, bringer of joy and hope and the bend and snap, with.

Kait knows that Mindy doesn't know how to take no as a response, so she looks equally helpless. "Distract her. Show her, I don't know, a Michael Fassbender gif or something."

Mindy's like, sixty percent sure that she's just tweeted a nude selfie and she's been told, like, a thousand times not to take nude selfies but isn't that her fundamental right as hot woman in the 21st century?

And now there's all of these randos just milling about acting like they know her. Is this what Blaine felt like when she first met him and totally freaked out? Maybe. Oh man. She kind of likes it...

Kimmy loves meeting new people, but a little less so when they seem to already know her because that makes her automatically think they know of her and the fact that she's a Mole Woman, a title she's happily cast aside since arriving in Darrow.

But it's just kind of the way the city is, she guesses, a city even stranger than New York which she didn't think was possible. A place where she could get candy for dinner? Nothing compared to a place where she apparently has been seducing her students while teaching them chemistry, or something.

There are few things about Darrow that Raven can call surprising anymore, but this is certainly unusual. She decides to hang by the sidelines, observing, though not appearing unwelcoming.

It is too early to be awake, yet here Alex sits, hunched over her computer, and trying desperately not to think of work. It's only a five hour shift, but still. Can't she just laze around with cats all day and pretend that real life doesn't exist?

Not that she doesn't pretend during her shifts, too, but still. She's curled up on the floor with her laptop and an iced tea, and the words are coming surprisingly easy this morning. (She considers that phrasing in her mind and snorts, probably looking as crazy as she feels.)

She's just about to put her iPod back on to listen to Hamilton for the hundreth time in one day, it seems, when she hears the door open. She stiffens. She thought everyone was already here?

"Um." Is her eloquent, honed-from-years-of-studying-language-and-literature response.

"Oh, um," Stef says again, "we're up to the 6S now. Or soon. And iPads come in mini, I don't know if that was true when you— okay, but who's hotter, Michael Fassbender in Shame or Michael Fassbender as Mr. Rochester?"

It doesn't entirely solve the issue, but it does give her a chance to start shutting various tabs, save things, and open a different browser. Just in case Mindy does manage to bring about ISIS.

With that done and her head spinning with the implications of multiple versions of time existing simultaneously (how do her pups do it in their EPs?), Stef collapses in a chair beside Kait, emitting a long, high-pitched whine. "Quit my job for me."

"Mm," Elle says. Fair enough. Plenty of people don't, and truthfully she knows she should forgo the caffeine, but sometimes it's just the most efficient. "Red Bull maybe? Monster? A smoothie?"

Kait has heard of the tales of Stef's particularly atrocious job, illiteracy of her peers not even redeemably through watching The Mindy Project early, and she hums sympathetically. "I would feel responsible for you, then, though," she sighs. "We'd both be homeless."

"So like, this shouldn't be so surprising, yet it somehow is?"

Alex finds Kait pretty much having the same reaction, which is comforting. She moves to sit beside her, having shut her own laptop in a panic roughly three minutes ago.

"Also they should really like, teach a course on this or something. How to have conversations with people you pretend to be online for fun."

"Oh my god," Mindy repeats, because Fassy is so on her freebie list and Danny knows that, she can lust after him all that she wants to.

"Can we talk about Shame? Is, like, the idea of that movie that sex is a bad thing? Because with him? No way. Oh my god. I would destroy him." She doesn't even care that she skates right past Stef's question, vision tunnel when it comes to talking about Michael Fassbender and his penis. She sighs wistfully. "I would let him destroy me."

"Mm," Stef says, as if in agreement. The dire truth is, Michael Fassbender looks like a bitter cartoon shark to her, but she doesn't dare admit that aloud, especially to Mindy. (He has so many teeth.) "I mean, who wouldn't, right? Like, you were even in the same city as his lookalike for a while there. I don't know how you survive, like, him and Armie Hammer and —" Chris Messina. "— all that."

Stef whines again. She's tired and words are hard. Besides, a whine is much more evocative of her current emotional state. "And how would I afford paid accounts?" She hates admitting defeat, but she loves being able to afford food.
