He know there are things she's not telling him, and that they're Maybe Not Good Things, and that it's causing a divide between them. But I really don't think he suspects that it's something about her. If you really pressed him, he'd admit that he worries that something happened to their relationship and that he's responsible. But the idea that she has a Deep Dark Secret is the very last thing he suspects.
For better or for worse, 'ferre has had a lot to think about lately. He's doing okay, but going to Downton, and seeing Sybil's family, has made it harder for him to ignore that they come from such different worlds. It has also made him worry that he has become too complacent in Darrow. So just... he has been even more serious and thoughtful than usual lately.
He is doing quite splendidly! He has also had a lot to think about, and he really, really misses his friends, but he increasingly sees Darrow as one big opportunity. I mean, he's running into snags along the way, but he's doing well.
