I loved her basically within five minutes of the pilot. She's tough and badass and has to fight tooth and nail to get respect in her department, but she's smart and good at her job, so despite the rumors to the contrary, she's gotten where she is because she deserves to be there. But I also really loved the vulnerability they gave her. Her close relationship with her father, her history with her mother, her insistence that she doesn't like working with kids when she's actually really, really good at it. Prime Suspect is a show that I think a lot of people overlooked because they resented it being a remake of such a great British series, but it was actually a great show in its own right, for the short time it aired, and a big part of that was Jane Timoney.
Jane basically rolls with the punches, no matter what they might be, but it's a big adjustment for her. She's still half convinced she's just crazy.
