It is not uncommon not to remember this place nor those you may have met within it. I am Eowyn of Rohan and we have met before.

Please trust that if I might have kept the memory of meeting Eowyn kinswoman of Theoden I would have. You come from a great and noble house, lady, and I hope we may be friends in this strange and troubling place as our forefathers were in their own time of need.

It was a similar time for me, though spring seemed as though it would not come. My people were besieged at the Hornburg and the Shadow lay heavy across all the free peoples of the West.

It has been thus in all free and good lands for far too long. Yet we must hold to hope that this shadow shall pass. Though there may be little else in these darkened days, that faith is ever present.

I had little hope to rest upon when first I arrived, and still do not trust much to it, but perhaps even a small hope is enough. Gandalf Grayhame would say so.

He would and I place great faith in Mithrandir's judgement, though it is perhaps an unwarranted faith in the eyes of some. I feel that even here he would not have us give in to despair.

There is no shadow in this land, which was strange to me at first. There are strange events and strange items, but the shadow is not here.

Then it is a strange land, but a blessed one. My heart yearns for my own land and people, yet I cannot deny that I have desired to breathe freely for some time now. Even though the respite may be brief it will doubtless be sweet.

Tis bittersweet, I would say, for the shadow is not here, but my people are still under its darkness and yet I can do nothing here to assist them. So also are yours, and so also are you unable to assist them while you are here.

All things that are sweet in this world share some portion of bitterness as well. It is what makes them all the more precious. No matter what may befall me in this land, the knowledge that my people and my father are sundered from me shall be a burden never fully excised from my mind, and it shall follow me in all i do. I pray only that some measure of hope may be restored to them now that Elendil's heir has come.
